Pets-n-Partners 4-H Club
Darke County 4-H is a family affair. Everyone becomes involved in the learning, the business and the fun. 4-H provides a wide variety of things to do and learn. Members belong to a group and take part in group events, or explore their own special interests on an individual basis. Youth may enroll in 4-H when they are both 8 years old and in the 3rd grade, and may be members until the end of the calendar year in which they become 19.
The purpose of 4-H is to help young people discover and develop their potential. 4-H encourages young people to set their own goals and make their own plans and decisions. This helps boys and girls mature and builds their self-confidence. By being part of a group, 4-H'ers learn to understand other people and to cooperate with them. These are two basic skills for a happy, useful life.
Pets-n-Partners is a general 4-H club, primarily focusing on dogs, but other projects are always accepted. We have members who show other animals or have project interests such as sewing, woodworking, fishing, and much more!
GOALS: The goals of 4-H are to help young people:
Develop initiative and assume responsibility.
Develop leadership and be of service to others.
Develop the ability to live and work cooperatively with others.
Acquire knowledge and skills and explore careers.
Achieve satisfaction from work and accomplishments.
Choose from alternatives and plan satisfying lives.
Develop positive self images.
