Major 4-H accomplishments:
I am in my fifth year as an advisor with Pets-n-Partners 4-H Club. Though I did not get to participate as a youth, I so enjoyed watching my 3 daughters and their accomplishments in 4-H that I found myself becoming more and more involved. This eventually led to an advisor position. I hope in this capacity I can help all of the kids in our club attempt projects and experiences and reach the goals that they set.
Biography:
I think I was born to be a teacher. There is nothing I enjoy more than seeing the look of understanding shine in a child's eyes. They are really so open to learning if you can present it in a way that encourages them to use their own life experiences to compare it to. The child that grows so frustrated with their puppy’s short attention span is much more likely to develop patience when you remind them that their little brother or sister did not understand how to walk and talk when they were a baby either, but as they got older and watched older brothers and sisters they learned, and so will their puppies. I have always enjoyed animals and science, I have a creative soul that somewhat lacks artistic skills to express this, and I enjoy people of all ages and all walks of life. I have taught 6th grade religion classes at St Mary’s church for several years. I have volunteered on several committees and clubs in my daughters’ school at Arcanum. I work as a Microbiologist at Good Samaritan Hospital and I am also the Performance Improvement Coordinator for the Laboratory at Good Samaritan. In this capacity I am responsible for looking at practices and procedures in place and then look "outside the box" to see how those processes could be improved. I have been married to my husband, Jeff, for 20 years. We will be proudly watching our oldest daughter, Jessica, graduate from Arcanum High School in May 09 and sending her off to The Ohio State University in September 09. Taylor is a freshman at Arcanum and plays volleyball, basketball. She belongs to the GLORY youth program at St Mary’s and is currently learning to drive with her driver’s permit. Brooke is in her final year at Arcanum Middle School and has been Student Council President for the past year. She also plays volleyball and basketball.
Favorite Quote or Prayer:
God grant me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change, the courage to change the things that I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
